CNA classes in Mississippi will prepare you for a career that offers job security and stability. Health care jobs are on the rise due to people living longer and requiring more medical care. Certification Requirements

In order to become a CNA, students must first take and pass a CNA program approved by the Mississippi Department of Health. Then they must sit for the National Nurses Aid Assessment Program Evaluation (NNAAP) examination. The Mississippi Department of Health has contracted with Pearson Vue to administer the Examination. The NNAAP examination consists of two parts, a written multiple choice test and a skills demonstration test. Arrangements can be made for students with reading problems. They can opt to have the written test as an oral multiple choice test. After successfully passing the NNAAP examination, CNAs will receive a certificate in the mail and their names will be placed on the Mississippi CNA registry.

CNA training can be attained in other ways such as free training offered by some nursing homes. These nursing homes also pay students an hourly wage while they train. They usually require a year of employment after graduation. Job Corps programs offer a nurse assistant course and the American Red Cross offers nurse assistant training for a price.

There are some online training CNA courses which is convenient for students who have family and work priorities. Courses can be taken in the convenience of your home whenever you have some free time. Just make sure the classes are acceptable by the Mississippi Department of Health and if you have to take additional testing before being able to sit for the NNAAP examination. The department will usually help you find CNA classes that are approved.
